Aussie Aid for Africa is committed to helping alleviate poverty amongst underprivileged children and youth in Africa.

At Tumaini (meaning ‘Hope’) Village, Aussie Aid for Africa cares for and educates local children, prioritising local empowerment and a sustainable future for local communities.

AA4A was established in Western Australia in February 2007 by Patrick Macpherson after he recognised the urgent need to provide a brighter future to disadvantaged children and communities in Tanzania after volunteering in that region.

  • AA4A cares for more than 20 children at Tumaini Village in Arusha, Tanzania, with plans to continue growing this number over coming years
  • AA4A are committed to developing the skills of the staff and the children of Tumaini Village and the local community in which they live to empower them to become employable and self sufficient in the long term. AA4A work in partnership with local organisation “Tumaini for Africa Foundation” in Tanzania to achieve this goal.
  • Construction of further housing and other infrastructure at the Tumaini Village in Arusha and the purchase of more land for the building of a primary school and medical centre in the area is the next major step towards self-sufficiency and sustainability for the Tumaini Village project.

By working with the local community to provide education, training and income generating opportunities, AA4A aims to create long term sustainable solutions.

Ultimately, AA4A intends to use the Tumaini Village as a model to replicate facilities in other areas of Tanzania and other African nations.

  • AA4A is a volunteer run, not-for-profit, non-government organisation.  It does not receive any government funding, and as such depends entirely on the generous donations of businesses and individuals.
  • AA4A benchmark = 100% of funds raised will be solely for the purpose of project spending. All administrative costs within Australia, travel costs and accommodation will be borne by the volunteers independent of donated funds.  Therefore, the total of ALL donations are spent in Tanzania on the children!
